The association québécoise de musicothérapie (AQM, Quebec Association for Music Therapy) is a provincial association, partnered with the Canadian Association of Music Therapists (CAMT). AQM is a non-profit association that serves as an organizational agency for music therapists, music therapy interns and students, and individuals and organizations interested in music therapy. Music therapy is a discipline in which credentialed professionals use music purposefully within therapeutic relationships to support development, health, and well-being. Music therapists use music safely and ethically to address human needs within cognitive, communicative, emotional, musical, physical, social, and spiritual domains. Music therapy is structured around the interaction process between the client, the music and the therapist.
The music therapist is a professional who graduated from a university training program recognized by the Canadian Association of Music Therapists (CAMT). They are certified as defined by the CAMT.
